Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has revealed plans to reclaim his title and challenge Tyson Fury in 2025.
During a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, Joshua outlined his ambitions, saying, “My goal is to become a three-time world champion and fight Tyson Fury in 2025.”
Acknowledging previous setbacks, Joshua expressed renewed determination. “I should have won those fights, but I didn’t. I can’t stop now; I must keep pushing until I reach my destination.”
On holiday in Nigeria, Joshua praised the hospitality of President Tinubu and his team. “They’ve been amazing hosts, and I’ve gained insights into how the country is run and the big plans ahead,” he noted.
Reflecting on the past year, Joshua vowed to seize every opportunity in 2025. “Hunger drives you to work harder. Looking back at 2024, I know I could’ve done more. This year, I’ll ensure I make the most of every chance,” he said.
Regarding a potential clash with Tyson Fury, Joshua remained hopeful yet measured. “Let’s see if we can get in the ring. Only God knows, but I’m optimistic about the future.”
Joshua also urged Nigerians in the diaspora to cherish their heritage. “You have a beautiful home filled with incredible energy. I love you all deeply,” he said.
Pledging to give back, Joshua added, “Even from London, I’ll ensure to bring opportunities and positive energy to Nigeria.”
