The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed condolences to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following the passing of his mother.
Nwabali shared the heartbreaking news on social media platform X on January 1, describing it as a devastating start to the year. “A very very crazy world indeed,” he wrote, before adding, “Rip mom, worst year of my life already.”
This tragedy comes just over a month after Nwabali lost his father. His father’s death occurred in mid-November while Nwabali was preparing for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo.
In a statement, the NFF offered its sympathies, saying: “Our heartfelt condolences to Stanley Nwabali on the loss of his mother. Stay strong, Stanley. We are sending you strength and support during this difficult time. You are not alone; we stand with you.”
The football community continues to rally around Nwabali during this challenging period.
