Awka, Nigeria — The Anambra State House of Assembly has condemned the escape of two suspects linked to the murder of late Justice Azuka, demanding their swift recapture.
Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze expressed shock over the announcement by State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, describing the development as regrettable. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Madu, the Speaker acknowledged the police’s previous professionalism in handling the case but insisted that this lapse must be urgently addressed.
“The Anambra State Legislature insists that the fleeing suspects must be tracked and apprehended without delay,” the statement read.
Calling for decisive action, Speaker Udeze urged the State Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts in re-arresting the suspects, stressing that Justice Azuka must not die in vain. He further advised law enforcement to declare the fugitives wanted, publishing their full details, including names, addresses, and photographs, which helps to enlist public support in their capture.
The statement reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law.
