Milan, Italy — AC Milan are reportedly setting their sights on Nigerian international and KRC Genk striker, Tolu Arokodare, as part of a strategic rebuilding initiative under newly appointed head coach, Massimiliano Allegri.
According to Tuttosport, the Italian club is currently exploring options to bring in fresh attacking talent, with Arokodare emerging as a top target. The potential acquisition is contingent upon Milan’s ability to free up funds through the departure of underperforming or high-earning players.
In recent weeks, Milan have already begun restructuring their squad. Notable exits include Tijjani Reijnders, who joined Manchester City, and Theo Hernandez, who is reportedly on his way to Saudi club Al-Hilal.
High on the list of players Milan are eager to part ways with is Divock Origi, the Belgian striker who joined the Rossoneri as a free agent in 2022 following his time at Liverpool. Despite initial expectations, Origi failed to make an impact — including a disappointing loan spell at Nottingham Forest — and spent the 2024–2025 season entirely sidelined, demoted to the youth ranks.
The 30-year-old forward was seen at the Milanello headquarters on Thursday afternoon, reportedly to negotiate an early contract termination. However, talks remain unresolved as Origi is said to be demanding a compensation payout. His current contract, valid until June 2026, includes a net annual salary of €4 million.
Meanwhile, Tolu Arokodare, 24, has been attracting attention following a standout campaign at Genk, where he scored 23 goals and provided 7 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. The Nigerian forward joined the Belgian outfit from Amiens in January 2023 for a reported fee of €5 million.
Arokodare has recently begun making his mark on the international stage. He netted his first senior goal for the Super Eagles in a 1–1 friendly draw against Russia this June, scoring the equalizer. He was also part of the squad that won the 2025 Unity Cup in London, a tournament that celebrated African excellence in football.
His performances at both club and international levels were further recognized when he was awarded the 2025 Ebony Award, honoring the best African player in the Belgian league.
Should Milan proceed with the deal, Arokodare would become part of a new era at the San Siro, representing a youthful, high-potential addition to the Serie A side’s restructured attacking lineup.
