Sokoto, Nigeria — In a strategic push toward industrial self-reliance, Nigeria has unveiled an array of locally assembled technological products, signaling a new chapter in the nation’s innovation landscape.
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), in collaboration with a Chinese technical partner, presented the innovations at a Strategic Focused Group Meeting on Made-in-Nigeria Products held in Sokoto.
Addressing participants, NASENI’s Coordinator, Mr. Muhammad Ndaman, described the initiative as a crucial leap in the country’s journey toward industrial sustainability and economic diversification. He stated that the products, including vehicles, laptops, solar-powered systems, and water dispensers, were produced using hybrid technology reliant on both electricity and fuel—with a significant percentage of materials sourced locally.
“These innovations reflect our resolve to strengthen Nigeria’s productive capacity through homegrown solutions,” Ndaman said. “They align directly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at revitalizing the economy and reducing import dependency.”
Among the technologies showcased were solar irrigation systems, lithium battery units, energy-efficient street lights, and animal feed mill machines. Ndaman reiterated NASENI’s commitment to eco-friendly solutions and its vision for globally competitive Nigerian-made electronics and mobility tools.
Urging both citizens and the corporate sector to support this industrial revolution, Ndaman called for increased patronage of indigenous products to stimulate job creation and drive economic growth.
In her remarks, Hajiya Habiba Sambawa, Managing Director of the Bank of Industry (BOI), encouraged entrepreneurs to tap into the Federal Government’s N75 billion loan scheme, which offers funding of up to N5 million per applicant. She emphasized the importance of collective efforts in positioning Nigeria as a major export-driven economy.
Echoing the sentiment, local entrepreneur Alhaji Ahmed Tambari advocated for a more inclusive loan system to aid small businesses. He noted Sokoto State’s untapped economic potential and charged the youth to seize emerging opportunities in modern enterprise.
The event marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s innovation journey, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to building a resilient, technology-driven economy.
