Owerri, Imo State — After a five-month vacancy, Justice Theophilus Nnamdi Nzeukwu has been officially sworn in as the Acting Chief Judge of Imo State.
The appointment was formalized on Wednesday evening, as Governor Hope Uzodimma administered the oath of office to Justice Nzeukwu at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers, Douglas House, Owerri. Alongside him, Prof. Bernard Thompson Ikegwuoha and Dr. (Mrs.) Vivian Chioma Egu were also inaugurated as commissioners.
Hailing from Egwedu-Atta Autonomous Community in Njaba Local Government Area, Nzeukwu’s educational journey spanned Central School No. II Atta, Bishop Shanahan College, Orlu, Federal Government College, Kano, and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he earned his law degree.
Following his call to the Nigerian Bar, he completed his National Youth Service (NYSC) at the Ministry of Justice, Etina, Akwa Ibom State, before commencing private legal practice at A.B.C. Iketuonye & Co. (SAN Chambers), Owerri.
His judicial career has seen him serve in various capacities, including:
– Chief Magistrate, Imo State Judiciary
– Deputy Chief Registrar, High Court, Owerri
– Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice, Owerri
– Judge, High Court, Owerri
With his wealth of experience across multiple judicial roles, Nzeukwu is expected to enhance stability, integrity, and efficiency within Imo State’s judiciary, reinforcing the rule of law and strengthening the legal system.
