Corpers have Right to Hold Leaders Accountable – Mr Macaroni

Nigeria — Nigerian skit maker and rights activist, Adebowale Adedayo, professionally called Mr Macaroni, has reacted to reports that the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, threatened a corper who criticised President Bola Tinubu’s government.

It could be recalled that a Lagos-based corper, Ushie Uguamaye in a now controversial TikTok video on Saturday, lamented the deteriorating economic situation in Nigeria.

While questioning the government’s commitment to easing the economic hardship, she described President Tinubu as a “terrible leader”.

Shortly after the viral video, Uguamaye claimed that she has been receiving threats from NYSC officials, pressuring her to take down the clip.

Reacting to the alleged threat in a post addressed to the NYSC DG, coordinators and officials, Macaroni in a post on his X stated that every Nigerian citizen including corpers have the right to hold Leaders accountable.

“To the DG, Coordinators, and every official of the NYSC!!! You cannot threaten, intimidate or victimise any corper for expressing views on the performance of the president. They’re citizens with rights! The president is in the office to serve every Nigerian. Corper or not, has the right to hold their leaders accountable!!!”.
