Nigeria: Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziak Salako, has emphasized the importance of integrating diagnostic services into the country’s healthcare system
Speaking at a National Summit in Abuja, Dr. Salako noted that this integration is crucial for enhancing efficiency, eliminating service duplication, and ensuring optimal resource utilization in healthcare delivery.
The Minister highlighted that diagnostics influence over 70% of medical decisions and are fundamental to effective healthcare delivery. He also emphasized that the initiative is an element of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to save foreign exchange, create jobs, reduce healthcare costs, and improve the economy and health status of Nigerians.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing technical and strategic support to the Federal Ministry of Health and the Medical Lab Service Division in advancing lab services, strengthening diagnostic networks, and ensuring sustainable access to high-quality diagnostics for all Nigerians.
