CAF Appoints Moroccan Official for Rwanda vs. Nigeria Clash

Kigali, Rwanda  —    The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has designated Moroccan referee Jayed Jalal as the match official for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda’s Amavubi.

The Group C encounter is scheduled for Friday, March 21, at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. Jalal will be assisted by fellow Moroccans Mostapha Akarkad and Hamza Nassiri, who will serve as first and second assistant referees, respectively.

Jalal, a seasoned 37-year-old referee, is no stranger to officiating high-stakes matches. He previously took charge of Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana in a friendly on March 22, 2024. Recognized as one of North Africa’s top referees, he has officiated numerous CAF club competitions and international fixtures.

As the Super Eagles prepare for this encounter, they find themselves in a challenging position, sitting fifth in Group C with three points from four matches. Meanwhile, Rwanda leads the group with seven points from four games, making this fixture a pivotal one for Nigeria’s qualification hopes.
