Sokoto, Nigeria — The 8 Division of the Nigerian Army has commenced its annual five-day Operation Planning Cadre, aimed at enhancing the leadership and combat readiness of Officers and Warrant Officers.
The training exercise, held at the Division Headquarters in Sokoto State, is designed to equip participants with advanced problem-solving techniques and effective operational strategies.
Speaking at the launch, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding the Division and Commander of Sector 2, Operation Hadarin Daji, emphasized the importance of leadership development in military operations.
“Leadership is a fundamental pillar of operational success,” Maj. Gen. Ajose stated. “This program is designed to instill authentic leadership skills at all levels of command, ensuring officers are well-prepared to address contemporary security challenges.”
The 2025 edition aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision to transform the Nigerian Army into a more effective force capable of fulfilling its constitutional mandate. This year’s theme, “Authentic Leadership at All Levels of Command: A Prerequisite for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness,” underscores the vital role of leadership in security operations.
In fostering inter-agency collaboration, the exercise includes participants from other security outfits such as the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Maj. Gen. Ajose highlighted the importance of synergy, noting that a holistic approach is necessary to tackle security threats effectively.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to building a formidable force by strengthening the leadership and operational capabilities of its personnel.
As security challenges continue to evolve, the Army remains dedicated to initiatives that enhance strategic leadership and foster a proactive security framework for Nigeria’s stability.
