Awka, Nigeria — The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the tragic death of Hon. Justice Azuka, representative of Onitsha North Constituency 1.
In a press statement, Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze expressed profound sorrow, calling the incident an act of unimaginable cruelty.
“Since his abduction on December 24, 2024, we prayed for his safe return. Today, we are confronted with the heartbreaking reality of his death,” he lamented.
Describing Azuka as a dedicated legislator, Udeze praised his commitment to policies that improved constituents’ lives and his impactful contributions to House debates.
Body Discovered on Second Niger Bridge
Azuka’s decomposing body was discovered on the Second Niger Bridge days after his abduction on Christmas Eve along Ugwunapampa Road, Onitsha.
In a statement, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that a joint security team found the lawmaker’s remains during a rescue operation.
Authorities have vowed to intensify investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
