Nnewi, Anambra State — Grief has engulfed the Nnewichi community in Nnewi North Local Government Area following the tragic discovery of three siblings found lifeless inside a deep freezer at their residence.
The victims, identified as Chikaima (9), Chimziterem (7), and Chimdilim (5), were reportedly attacked by unidentified assailants while their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie— a lecturer and nurse— was away for an examination.
According to sources, Mrs. Ejezie returned home to find the entrance unusually open, a departure from her children’s usual habit of securing the door when alone. A frantic search led to the shocking discovery of their bodies inside the deep freezer.
Mr. Udobi Ejezie, the children’s father, who resides in Irrua, Edo State, revealed that traces of unfinished meals suggested the attack occurred around midday. Despite the presence of other occupants in the compound, there were no signs of forced entry.
Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer Tochukwu Ikenga stated that Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam had ordered an extensive investigation. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry.
The remains of the deceased have been moved to a morgue as authorities intensify efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking incident.
