The Ogun State Police Command has arrested twin brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Yemitan, along with another suspect, Kazeem, in connection with the gruesome murder and dismemberment of a sex worker identified as Darasimi in Abeokuta.
Police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that Darasimi was lured to the suspects’ residence in Abeokuta, where she was killed for alleged ritual purposes.
Kehinde was apprehended on December 30, 2024, in the Ilogbo area of Ota, following intelligence received from a volunteer informant. His twin brother, Taiwo, and Kazeem had earlier been arrested on December 22, 2024, after the crime was reported.
“The Divisional Police Officer of Sango Ota, in collaboration with the So Safe Corps, acted swiftly on the tip-off and successfully apprehended Kehinde,” Odutola stated.
The suspects allegedly admitted to conspiring to murder the victim, with community members confirming Kehinde’s involvement in criminal activities. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for further investigation.
SP Odutola issued a caution to young women, urging them to avoid risky behaviors such as “hookups,” which could make them vulnerable to crimes like ritual killings. She also called on parents and guardians to help educate the public on the dangers of prostitution.
“This incident should serve as a warning to young females to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to such tragic crimes,” she added.
