Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has expressed confidence that Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho will soon rediscover his best form at the club. Iheanacho joined the Spanish side on a free transfer this summer but has yet to make a significant impact.
The 27-year-old striker, who previously played for Manchester City, has only featured in two La Liga matches for Sevilla this season. He was an unused substitute in Sevilla’s 1-0 victory over Getafe last weekend.
Despite the slow start, Pimienta remains optimistic about Iheanacho’s potential. Speaking ahead of Sevilla’s upcoming match against Alaves, Pimienta explained that the Nigerian forward’s absence last week was due to fatigue from international duty.
“He [Iheanacho] has been with us all week and is performing well. He didn’t play last week because he had just returned from international duty and was tired from traveling,” the coach said.
Pimienta also praised Iheanacho’s talent, stating, “He’s a great player, and we have full confidence in him. He brings quality to the team, and when the opportunity arises, we believe he will make the most of it.”
