The Oyo State Government has set Friday, July 12, 2024, for the coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakuleyin as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Prince Dotun Oyelade, the State’s Commissioner for Information, announced in a statement on Friday that Governor Seyi Makinde will also present the Staff of Office to Oba Olakuleyin, who will become the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. The ceremony will take place at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
The statement called for patience among the people of Ibadan. “Our people must learn to be patient and trust an administration that has not disappointed them in five years,” Oyelade said.
He emphasized that rumors and misleading comments had not deterred Governor Makinde from pursuing justice and fairness.
The Oyo State Government urged residents, especially those in Ibadan, to look forward to the coronation and the presentation of the staff of office on July 12.
The Olubadan throne became vacant following the death of Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun on March 14, 2024. Oba Olakuleyin was chosen as the Olubadan-designate by the Ibadan kingmakers during a meeting on April 12, 2024, in accordance with the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration of 1957.highrevenuenetwork.com/9e9a5ee8183bdc3f8ca0807126145712/invoke.js
Governor Makinde formally approved Oba Olakuleyin’s appointment via a memo dated June 14, 2024.
