The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 55-year-old woman, identified as Ifeoma, who collapsed and died while giving a testimony during a church service in the Iyana Ejigbo area of Lagos.
The incident was reported by the church’s zonal accountant on Sunday at 11:45 a.m., according to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
In a statement to the press on Wednesday, Hundeyin explained, “At around 11:45 a.m., a male representative from Iyana Ejigbo came to the station to report that earlier that morning, at approximately 8:48 a.m., during the testimony session of the church service, a woman named Ifeoma, aged 55, came forward to sing and share her testimony when she suddenly collapsed.”
Ifeoma was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but due to the severity of her condition, she was referred to the General Hospital in Isolo, where she was pronounced dead.
Hundeyin further stated that detectives were dispatched to the hospital following the report, but upon their arrival, they were informed that the woman’s family had taken her body to her hometown in Anambra State for burial.
