“In a courtroom session at Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, a 44-year-old man named Afeez Oriyomi faced charges today related to the alleged theft of 460 litres of diesel valued at N368,000. The accused, Oriyomi, whose residence details were not disclosed, entered a plea of not guilty to the two-count charge of theft and conspiracy.
According to Insp. Funmi Akinleye, the prosecutor, the incident took place on July 28 within the Ikeja region. Oriyomi was accused of collaborating with unidentified individuals, who are currently evading capture, to perpetrate the theft. The stolen property, consisting of 460 liters of diesel valued at N368,000, belonged to Cent Door Limited.
The alleged actions of Oriyomi were found to be in violation of Sections 411, 280, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Mrs. Oyenike Fajana presided over the proceedings and granted the defendant bail in the amount of N100,000. The bail conditions included presenting two sureties who are gainfully employed and can provide proof of two years’ tax payments to the Lagos State government.
The case is set to be revisited on August 29 for further proceedings.”
