Troops from the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji have conducted successful operations in Zamfara State, rescuing 17 kidnapped victims and recovering a significant number of rustled cattle. These operations were the result of intensified fighting and offensive patrols within their Areas of Responsibility.
Here are some key highlights of the recent operations:
On September 14, 2023, troops rescued 2 victims and a commercial vehicle carrying food stuff in Shinkafi Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State after thwarting a kidnapping attempt.
Ground troops on routine patrol at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Danjigba rescued 3 kidnapped victims who had been abducted from their farmlands and were held captive at Dangajeru forest.
On September 13, 2023, troops intercepted and rescued 8 kidnapped victims at Baggega, who had been in captivity for 8 weeks in Gando forest.
On September 12, 2023, troops intercepted bandits moving a large number of rustled animals in Anka LGA. They engaged the bandits, forcing them to flee and abandoning over 130 rustled animals.
In response to a distress call about kidnapping at Bunkasau village in Bukkuyum LGA, troops swiftly mobilized and rescued 4 male victims.
All the rescued kidnapped victims have been reunited with their families, and the recovered cattle have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for return to their rightful owners.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their relentless efforts and commitment in rescuing victims. He urged them to remain proactive and continue to deny criminals freedom of action. He also called on the public to provide timely information to support the troops’ efforts in maintaining security in the region.
