Zulum Distributes Food and Cash to Thousands in Borno State

Borno State, Nigeria

Governor Babagana Zulum has overseen the distribution of food supplies and agricultural inputs to over 35,000 male heads of household in Monguno Local Government Area. Each beneficiary received a 25kg bag of rice and cowpeas to aid in their farming activities.

The governor highlighted that this rice package was part of the 20 trucks of rice donated by the federal government to alleviate the hardship caused by the high cost of food items. He also mentioned that the government is providing agricultural inputs to male-headed households, many of whom lack the means to purchase improved seed varieties.

Additionally, Zulum noted that the federal government has provided 90 trucks of fertilizer for free distribution to farmers in the state.

In a related initiative, Governor Zulum has also disbursed over ₦450 million to 45,000 widows and vulnerable women in Monguno town. Each recipient received ₦10,000 in cash and a wrapper.

Governor Zulum emphasized that these palliative measures are not intended to create dependency but to support vulnerable families who have lost their livelihoods due to the Boko Haram conflict.
