Gusau, Nigeria — The Shinkafi Local Government in Zamfara State has set aside ₦70 million to facilitate the enrollment of 2,000 children displaced by bandit attacks back into school.
The initiative was announced by the Chairman of the council, Ibrahim Musa Shinkafi, during a media briefing in Gusau after defending the local government’s budget before the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
According to Shinkafi, the allocated funds will be used to provide essential school materials, including uniforms, bags, and shoes, ensuring that affected children can resume their education despite previous disruptions.
“This initiative is designed to restore hope to displaced children and reintegrate them into the education system,” Shinkafi stated.
Beyond education, the council chairman emphasized his administration’s commitment to working with NGOs and donor agencies to rehabilitate communities affected by banditry.
He further outlined security, healthcare, agriculture, and public welfare as priority areas in the local government’s broader development strategy.
The initiative underscores the government’s resolve to mitigate the impact of insecurity on education and improve the welfare of displaced communities.
