Yuletide: FRSC points stern warning to motorists in Ogun

The Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun has appealed to motorists to be conscious of their safety and that of other road users to avoid crashes before, during and after the yuletide.

The FRSC Unit Commander, Akeem Ganiyu, made the appeal during a news briefing to commemorate the Road Traffic Crashes Remembrance Day on Monday in Ota, Ogun.

Ganiyu spoke against the backdrop of this year’s ember months’ campaign, with the theme: Speed kills but Thrills: Avoid loading and drive responsively.”

He said the event was aimed at remembering all those who had been killed and those who had sustained serious injuries on the roads.

He said the event, celebrated from Nov. 15 to Nov 20, comprises Africa Road Safety Day and World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

Ganiyu outlined some of the activities for this year’s celebration including a visit to the NUPENG mosque and toll-gate, Ota, on Nov. 17 to pass the FRSC Corps Marshal’s message to the public.

Ganiyu reiterated the corps’ commitment to ensuring a safer motoring environment through collective efforts of stakeholders and partners toward reducing road crashes across the country.
