Damaturu, Yobe State — The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has carried out the destruction of 51 cartons of alcoholic beverages, in a renewed effort to enforce moral discipline and strengthen community peace across the state.
The exercise, which was supervised by the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Yahuza Abubakar, underscores Hisbah’s commitment to curbing activities deemed harmful to public health and social harmony.
Speaking shortly after the operation, Dr. Yahuza noted that the move was in line with the Hisbah Commission’s statutory mandate to enforce regulations that safeguard societal values and decency.
“The consumption and distribution of alcohol within Yobe State remains strictly prohibited under the law. Our actions are intended to promote social stability and preserve the ethical foundations of our communities,” he said.
He further emphasized that alcohol poses a significant threat to the wellbeing of citizens, both morally and medically, stressing that the Commission remains resolute in its mission to promote justice, reform, and peaceful coexistence.
Dr. Yahuza also called on residents to cooperate with Hisbah by shunning practices that contradict the state’s laws and Islamic values.
The destruction of the confiscated alcohol is part of Yobe’s wider campaign to reinforce public morality and reflect the values cherished by the majority of its citizens.
