Woman nabbed in Nasarawa for alleged arms trafficking

Nasarawa state,Nigeria:The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old woman, Fatima Salisu, for allegedly trafficking a significant quantity of ammunition.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted in Azuba, a suburb of Lafia, the state capital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Salisu had collected the consignment in Rukubi, a community in Doma Local Government Area, and was reportedly transporting it to Katsina State, where the ammunition was believed to be destined for criminal elements.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, Shettima Mohammed, ordered the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which intercepted and arrested the suspect along the Keana-Doma road.

The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation as police continue their efforts to identify other individuals connected to the trafficking operation.

Commissioner Mohammed reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime and called on residents to assist law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities
