Woman Arrested in Nasarawa with Anti-Aircraft Ammunition Hidden in Palm Oil

Police operatives in Nasarawa State have arrested a woman found in possession of 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a container of palm oil. The arrest occurred in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Hauwa Sani, hails from Doro Village in Katsina State and was traveling with a two-year-old child at the time of her arrest. According to a statement by the Nasarawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Rahman Nansel, the woman had reportedly received the ammunition in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

“On 23/8/2024, at approximately 1710 hours, based on credible intelligence, police operatives from the Keffi Division intercepted and arrested Hauwa Sani, who was traveling with a two-year-old child. Upon inspection, 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, and N78,500 in cash were recovered, with the ammunition hidden in a gallon of palm oil,” the statement revealed.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Sani had obtained the ammunition in Rafin Sanyi Village, Doma Local Government Area, and was attempting to transport it to Katsina State before being apprehended.

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the suspect and the recovered exhibits to be transferred to the Force Intelligence Department at Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation. He also praised the officers involved for their diligence in carrying out the arrest.
