Wife of Ex Rivers HoS Raises Alarm Over His Disappearance

Port Harcourt, Nigeria  —  Mrs. Florence Nweke, wife of Rivers State’s former Head of Service, Dr. George Nweke, has expressed deep concern over her husband’s sudden disappearance.

Dr. Nweke resigned from his position on Monday, March 24, 2025, citing personal reasons. However, his situation took a dramatic turn after he addressed a press conference in Abuja, making startling revelations about the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.

Shortly after the press conference, Mrs. Nweke raised the alarm that her husband was unreachable and feared he had been abducted.

“He called me upon arriving in Abuja, and I was relieved. But later, I started receiving calls about an interview he gave. I was confused because that didn’t seem like my husband,” she recounted emotionally.

In a desperate plea, she shared messages she had sent to her husband.

“I texted him, ‘Are you under duress? Have they taken you? Why won’t you speak to me?’ But he never replied, and now his phone lines are unreachable. Nigerians, please help me!” she cried out in a widely circulated video.

In the footage, Mrs. Nweke is seen appealing to the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to intervene and ensure her husband’s safety.

“Governor, please help me. My husband is in danger,” she pleaded, alleging that he had resigned under duress and was being forced into confessions.

Amid the growing concerns, Dr. Nweke later appeared in a separate video, assuring the public that he was safe and staying at a luxurious hotel in Abuja. He stated that he was merely awaiting the appropriate time to present himself to security authorities.
