London, England — Former Arsenal manager and FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, Arsène Wenger, has called for a complete squad overhaul at Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, insisting that both clubs must rebuild if they hope to compete for the Premier League title next season.
Speaking on beIN Sports, Wenger reflected on the struggles of the two clubs, once title contenders but now far from challenging at the top of the table.
“These teams, which were once at the heart of title races, are now battling to stay relevant,” Wenger remarked. “It has been another disappointing season, and a complete restructuring is needed if they are to rise again.”
He noted that fans of both clubs have been left frustrated by underwhelming performances, adding that their high-spending squads have failed to deliver results.
“When you look at the importance of this match, it’s not about league position anymore. It’s about pride and trying to regain the trust of the supporters,” Wenger explained. “Both teams have spent over a billion pounds, yet they face the same fundamental issue, finding the right players to rebuild.”
Stressing the magnitude of the challenge, Wenger concluded, “The entire squad needs restructuring at Tottenham and Manchester United. It’s a huge task, and neither club will find it easy.”
