Wanted- Nollywood Filmmaker Arrested in Major NDLEA Dealings

LEKKIThe National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) began the new year with a series of successful operations, including the arrest of a notorious Lagos socialite and drug kingpin, Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye. Known in the underworld as “Iya Ruka,” the 61-year-old suspect was apprehended on January 1, 2025, at her Okota mansion. Acting on intelligence, NDLEA operatives intercepted a truck carrying 1,540 kilograms of cannabis linked to her cartel. Alhaja Ajoke, who masked her illegal dealings as a businesswoman importing fabrics and shoes, had been on the NDLEA’s wanted list for years.

In another operation, US-trained filmmaker and motivational speaker Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe was arrested at his hotel in Lekki following the detention of his associate, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James. James was caught at a warehouse in Ikeja retrieving 17.30 kilograms of cannabis concealed in wooden boxes, which arrived from the United States. Mbadiwe is believed to have coordinated the shipment.

The agency also cracked down on two young women in Kwara State, Khadijat Abdulraheem and Ayomide Morakinyo, who were caught producing and selling drug-laced cupcakes to students in Ilorin. During their arrest, NDLEA operatives recovered 42 drugged cakes from their apartment.

Meanwhile, an ex-convict, Sodade Sunday Eniola, who previously served time for drug trafficking, was rearrested for passport racketeering. Investigations revealed he was part of a syndicate smuggling passports concealed in food and shoes.

In Port Harcourt, NDLEA officers, in collaboration with Customs, confiscated 316,800 bottles of codeine-based syrup from two containers at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex. Similarly, in Kano, the agency seized 149,090 pills of tramadol and Exol-5 from a dealer in Dala Local Government.

The NDLEA also intensified its community outreach through its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign. Sensitization activities were carried out in markets, schools, and mosques to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), lauded the officers involved in these operations for their dedication. He emphasized the agency’s commitment to reducing both the supply and demand for illicit drugs nationwide.
