The West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy (WABMA) has appointed Mike Msuega Yawe as its Executive Director of Business Development, a role that places him in charge of the growth and expansion of the academy.
A statement by the Rector of WABMA, Ken Okere says Mr Yawe is joining WABMA at a time when the academy begins to broaden its portfolio of training and offerings to position itself as the one-stop shop for media and communication training.
“We would benefit immensely from his depth of professional experience to consolidate our operations in Abuja, Enugu, and Lagos.”
According to the statement, Mr Yawe brings to WABMA rich experiences in business management, sales training, media practice, and management from decades of working with several companies in both the private and public sectors.
Mike Yawe retired recently from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria as Managing Director of Radio Nigeria Investments Ltd.
A recipient of many honorary awards, Mike Yawe holds degrees from Bayero University, Kano, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi,
“I remember Yawe from my days as the Acting Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria when he was brought in to nurture the investment arm of Radio Nigeria. His presence at WABMA will position the academy to better achieve its goals,” said the Chairman of WABMA, Mr. Kevin Ejiofor.
Reacting to the development, Yawe said that his coming to WABMA gives him new mentorship opportunities to inculcate in younger colleagues the unique attributes of marketers—sniffing out opportunities and developing strategies that bring them to fruition. “At this point in my career, I find WAMBA a good place to utilise my marketing, training, and mentorship skills, which I developed over the years,” he added.
