Lagos, Nigeria— Celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has explained that long-standing U.S. visa issues prevented him from attending singer Davido’s white wedding in Miami, Florida.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Chief Priest expressed mixed emotions—joy for his friend’s union but disappointment over his absence. He revealed that persistent errors from an application filled out in his youth continue to trigger visa denials, despite multiple attempts to correct them.
Responding to criticism, he noted that his wife and family attended the ceremony to represent him. “The largest part of me, which is my family, is there to share in this blissful experience. So I’m there in body and spirit,” he said, wishing Davido and Chioma a happy marriage.
He vowed to reapply for a visa next week, appealing publicly to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria for approval. “Delay is never denial. This pain is really paining,” he added.
Earlier this year, he disclosed in a TV interview that the mistakes in his original visa application have followed him for years, making entry into the United States a dream yet to be realized.
Celebrities and friends joined Davido and Chioma for their pre-wedding festivities in Miami on Saturday, ahead of the main celebration.
