Rotterdam, Netherlands — Robin van Persie has been named the new head coach of Feyenoord, signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.
The former Dutch international returns to the club where he made a significant impact as a player, scoring 46 goals and providing 16 assists across two stints.
Feyenoord’s CEO, Dennis te Kloese, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, hailing Van Persie as a club legend with deep-rooted knowledge of Feyenoord’s culture and expectations.
“Robin embodies everything we stand for—his understanding of the club, his experience, and his vision for the game make him an ideal fit for this role,” Kloese stated.
He emphasized that Van Persie’s philosophy aligns with Feyenoord’s attacking and high-intensity style of play, adding that the new coach will be supported by René Hake, an experienced assistant coach set to join the technical staff from Monday.
Feyenoord currently sits fourth in the Eredivisie, trailing league leaders Ajax by 14 points. However, they have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 after knocking out Milan in the play-offs.
