Residents of Ikirun in Osun State were shocked and confused when a local security guard, known as ‘Ibariba,’ was found slaughtered at his duty post by unknown assailants.
The incident occurred at a shop owned by a man named Baba Giwa in the early hours of Monday.
The body of Ibariba was discovered in the morning as business activities were about to commence, leading residents to alert security operatives. The Nigerian Security and Defence Corps (NSCDC) responded to the scene and evacuated the remains.
The spokesperson of the NSCDC, Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident and stated that the body of the local security guard had been taken to a morgue. Adeleke mentioned that investigations have begun to determine the cause of the guard’s death and apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
The brutal killing of the local security guard has left the community in shock and mourning as they await further updates from the ongoing investigation by the NSCDC.
