A tragic incident occurred at Miracle Junction in Ifite, Anambra State, where a stray bullet, suspected to have been fired by cultists, claimed the life of a first-year student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka. The victim, a female student named Uche Jovita Chigozirim, was fatally hit by the stray bullet.
A fellow student, Dickson Anayochi, who spoke with journalists, expressed grief and concern over the security situation in the UNIZIK environment. He called for urgent intervention, stating that this incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in the area, with little action from the state government to address it.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, for a response were unsuccessful at the time of reporting. The lifeless body of the student remained at the crime scene, covered with banana leaves, as investigations into the incident were likely underway.
