Unidentified Man Drown in Ogun River

Confirming a grim occurrence, the Ogun State Police Command has disclosed the unfortunate demise of Sunday Ogah, a young man who tragically drowned in the tumultuous waters of Eyinwa River, situated within the precincts of Odogbolu Local Government Area.

SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, affirmed that the distressing incident transpired on Saturday, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities and local divers who swiftly initiated search operations to recover Ogah’s lifeless body.

Originating from Benue State but residing in the bustling environs of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Ogah ventured to Eyinwa community in the company of his acquaintance, Otusanya Abayomi. It is reported that during their sojourn, Ogah, unbeknownst to his companion, embarked on a solitary excursion to the river, ultimately meeting his tragic fate.

The lamentable ordeal unfolded when Abayomi, upon realizing Ogah’s absence, alerted authorities at the Odogbolu Divisional Police Station, recounting the sequence of events leading to the unfortunate incident. Despite concerted efforts by law enforcement personnel and local divers to retrieve Ogah’s remains from the depths of the river, their endeavors were met with frustration.

Expressing condolences to Ogah’s bereaved family, SP Odutola underscored the ongoing endeavors to recover the deceased’s body and provide solace to his loved ones amidst this somber chapter. Additionally, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Alamutu, issued a stern admonition to the youth, urging caution and vigilance when venturing near bodies of water, reaffirming the command’s steadfast commitment to ensuring public safety and averting similar tragedies in the future.
