UCL: UEFA approves Real Madrid request ahead of Man City game

UEFA has approved Real Madrid’s request to play their Champions League home fixture against Manchester City under a closed roof.

ESPN reports that the quarter-final first leg game will now be played under a closed roof at Santiago Bernabeu.

The LaLiga giants have introduced a retractable roof in their newly renovated home ground.

Real believe closing it will improve the atmosphere as they seek revenge against the reigning European champions.

UEFA gave the approval after a pre-match technical meeting that saw match referee Francois Letexier consulted.

Los Blancos played the second leg of their last-16 tie against RB Leipzig under a closed roof.
