Madrid, Spain — Victor Boniface has been named in Bayer Leverkusen’s squad for their UEFA Champions League encounter against Atletico Madrid.
The Nigerian forward has been out of action since suffering a thigh injury during international duty in November. Now fully recovered, the 24-year-old is poised to make his comeback for the Bundesliga side.
Boniface joined his teammates on their trip to Madrid on Monday, signaling his readiness for the crucial tie. Speaking ahead of the match, Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso expressed optimism about the striker’s return.
“We had a training session this morning and made the decision to include Victor Boniface in the squad for the trip to Madrid,” Alonso revealed. “He’s improving steadily, and it’s fantastic news for both the team and him personally. Boni feels great, and we’re thrilled to have him back.”
Boniface has been instrumental for Bayer Leverkusen this season, registering eight goals and one assist in 15 appearances across all competitions. His return is expected to provide a significant boost to the team as they face Atletico Madrid in a pivotal Champions League fixture.
