UAE Donates 50 Tonnes of Aid for Nigerian Flood Victims

The Federal Government of Nigeria has received a donation of 50 tonnes of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to assist victims of the recent floods in the country.

The relief materials were delivered to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and officially handed over by the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Alshamsi. Ambassador Alshamsi emphasized that the donation was a directive from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan, reaffirming the UAE’s ongoing commitment to providing support to nations affected by natural disasters.

Key officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser were present to receive the supplies on behalf of the flood victims.

Dr. Ahmed Dunoma, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed gratitude on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, highlighting the strong diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the UAE. He also underscored the significance of the donation in addressing the pressing needs of those displaced by the floods.

NEMA Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, also extended her appreciation to the UAE government, noting that the aid would greatly support the Federal Government’s efforts to bring relief and recovery to the flood-affected communities.
