Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have killed over 70 terrorists and destroyed eight vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) during raids on camps in the Lake Chad Basin. According to a statement by MNJTF’s Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi Abubakar, the operations were part of the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2.
Lt.-Col. Abubakar detailed that recent aerial operations successfully targeted and demolished terrorist camps located in the Cameroonian and Nigerian territories of Lake Chad, forcing many terrorists to flee into Chad. He highlighted that troops destroyed VBIEDs in Arinna Ciki and ammunition bunkers northeast of Malam Fatori. Additionally, with the support of the Chadian Rapid Intervention Force, Sector 2 troops neutralized 70 terrorists and dismantled five camps, demonstrating the effectiveness of MNJTF’s strategies and the strong cooperation with the Chadian Armed Forces. Lt.-Col. Abubakar extended gratitude to the Chadian Armed Forces and other troop-contributing countries for their crucial roles in the success of Operation Lake Sanity 2 and reaffirmed MNJTF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace to the Lake Chad Basin.
