Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have dismantled several terrorist camps near Bichi Hill in Danmusa Local Government Area, Katsina State.
Acting on credible intelligence about terrorist activities, the operation targeted camps responsible for attacks in Danmusa, Safana, and Kankara Local Government Areas on December 19, 2024.
In a statement, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, detailed that the operation combined precision air strikes and ground assaults. The Air Component launched multiple successful strikes on identified hideouts, while ground troops engaged in intense combat with surviving terrorists attempting to regroup near Bichi Hill.
The operation reportedly inflicted critical injuries on notorious terrorist leaders, including Manore and Dogo Nahalle. Local sources confirmed the destruction of several camps, significantly weakening the operational capacity of the terrorist network. Fleeing insurgents on motorcycles were tracked and neutralized by air strikes, preventing their escape.
Communities in Maidabino, Yantumaki, Mara, and other areas in Danmusa and Safana LGAs, previously plagued by terrorist threats and mass displacements, are expected to see improved security following this decisive action.
Major General Oluyinka Soyele, Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, reaffirmed the troops’ dedication to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of residents in the Northwest and Niger State. He urged citizens to avoid aiding or sheltering criminal elements and called for continued collaboration with security forces to sustain peace efforts.
The Joint Task Force assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property while emphasizing the importance of community support in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
