A tragic road accident in Edo State has resulted in the death of two health workers from the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mrs. Mary Oseikhuemen and Mrs. Juliet Idialu. Mrs. Oseikhuemen, a nurse, also lost her four-month-old baby in the accident, while four other staff members sustained injuries of varying degrees.
The accident occurred when an articulated truck collided with the vehicle carrying the health workers along the Benin-Auchi road as they were returning to Esan West Local Government after an official assignment in Benin City. The Edo State Head of Service, Barrister Anthony Okungbowa, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and visited the hospital to sympathize with the injured staff.
The state government has pledged to compensate the families of the deceased and cover the medical expenses of the injured staff. The Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency described the deceased as dedicated and hardworking individuals who will be deeply missed by their colleagues. Mrs. Oseikhuemen leaves behind two children and a husband, while Mrs. Idialu is survived by four children.
