Tinubu’s Policies Driving Economic Growth – VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has affirmed that Nigeria’s economy is on a path to recovery and growth, attributing this to the strategic policies and commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on Saturday during a one-day retreat for presidential aides and heads of units in his office, held in Abuja, Shettima highlighted key achievements under Tinubu’s administration, including an increase in crude oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.

The Vice President, represented by his media aide Stanley Nkwocha, expressed optimism about the country’s economic trajectory. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is resolute in transforming this nation. Our collective goal is to hand over a united and progressive Nigeria to the next generation,” Shettima stated.

While acknowledging the economic challenges Nigeria faces, he said the administration had “turned the corner,” predicting significant growth in 2024. “The economy is on an upward trajectory, and I firmly believe that the new year will bring unprecedented progress,” he added.

Shettima also urged presidential aides to prioritize collaboration and dedication in executing the administration’s agenda. “The country is greater than any individual. Let’s unite as a team and work towards the common goal of national transformation,” he said.

In his opening remarks, Senator Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), explained that the retreat aimed to enhance synergy and improve operational efficiency within the Vice President’s office. He emphasized the importance of strategic communication, project funding alignment, and fostering partnerships with ministries, departments, and agencies.

Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, commended the aides for their efforts in strategic communication but stressed the need for stronger interdepartmental collaboration.

Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar, Special Adviser on General Duties, encouraged participants to leverage their expertise, remain focused, and prioritize the administration’s goals.

Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Olufunso Adebiyi, and senior officials from the Vice President’s office. The retreat emphasized the administration’s commitment to steering Nigeria towards sustained economic growth and development.
