Tinubu Vows Action Against Attackers, Labels Acts Treasonable

The Federal Government has pledged to decisively confront groups or individuals attacking personnel deployed to maintain peace in conflict-prone areas. This commitment was articulated in a stern message from President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu condemned the recent killing of five soldiers by suspected militants from the terrorist organization IPOB in Aba, Abia State. These soldiers were on peacekeeping duty, marking a tragic recurrence two months after a similar incident in Okuama, Delta State.

The government has strongly denounced the repeated attacks on armed forces personnel, describing these actions as unwarranted, barbaric, and intolerable.

“These unwarranted, barbaric, and evil acts stand condemned and should never be condoned or tolerated in our country,” stated President Tinubu.

President Tinubu emphasized that the government and armed forces possess the capability to neutralize violent non-state actors destabilizing communities. He urged security agencies to apprehend the masterminds and perpetrators of the Aba attack and those inciting civil unrest.

He clarified that the government’s restraint should not be interpreted as weakness, as their objective is to foster a peaceful and harmonious society.

“The federal government will come down heavily against those who have made it a habit to needlessly attack the officers and men of our armed forces,” he asserted.

President Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the five slain soldiers and the leadership of the Armed Forces, encouraging other peacekeeping personnel to remain steadfast despite the incident in Aba.
