President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate several completed projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from May 27 to June 6, announced Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, during a project inspection.
Wike highlighted that the inauguration will include the commencement of commercial operations for the Abuja Light Rail, also known as the Abuja Metro Line, with a final inspection scheduled for May 20.
“This final inspection ensures our preparedness for the inauguration of various projects. With the President’s approval, we will begin the inaugurations starting May 27,” Wike explained.
Despite ongoing political tensions in his home state of Rivers, Wike, the former governor, emphasized his commitment to his ministerial duties.
Wike has been in conflict with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, since October 2023, following the initiation of impeachment proceedings against Fubara by some state lawmakers.
Addressing a civic reception in Ogu-Bolo, Rivers State, Wike admitted to a past mistake and expressed his intention to rectify it in due course. “In life, we make mistakes. I have made a mistake. I own it and ask for forgiveness from God and from all of you. We will correct it at the appropriate time,” he stated.
