Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has honoured the Super Falcons and their technical crew with national awards and generous gifts following their triumphant performance on the international stage.
The announcement was made during a special reception held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the President celebrated the team’s achievements and lauded their dedication, resilience, and patriotism.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu conferred on the players and the 11-member technical team the prestigious national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
In addition to the national recognition, the President approved the allocation of three-bedroom apartments for each player and crew member at the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja.
Further demonstrating his appreciation, the President directed the disbursement of the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each of the 24 players, and $50,000 to each of the technical crew members.
President Tinubu emphasized that the gesture reflects the government’s commitment to rewarding excellence and inspiring future generations of athletes to strive for greatness in service of the nation.
In a show of collective support, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, represented by its Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, also donated ₦10 million to each team member.
The honours and incentives mark a significant moment of recognition for Nigerian women’s football, reinforcing the government’s commitment to celebrating national pride and sporting excellence.
