Tinubu Praised for Breaking Presidential Inertia

Abuja, Nigeria:President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been lauded as the first Nigerian leader to depart from what has been described as a long-standing tradition of presidential inertia, setting a new precedent in decisive leadership and policy implementation.

Speaking at a press briefing to mark the administration’s second year in office, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, praised President Tinubu for demonstrating unprecedented political will in tackling complex national challenges.

“President Tinubu is not Nigeria’s first president, but he is the first to break away from a stagnating culture of presidential inaction that had persisted over time,” Morka said. He emphasized that the administration’s readiness to make tough decisions reflects a leadership style focused on sustainable national development.

Acknowledging the short-term discomfort caused by key economic reforms, Morka stated that both the party and the administration are aware of the sacrifices Nigerians are making. However, he stressed that the long-term gains are beginning to manifest, particularly in critical sectors such as energy and trade.

One of the notable achievements, he noted, is the administration’s aggressive campaign against oil theft, which has significantly boosted crude oil production. Nigeria is now producing approximately 1.8 million barrels of oil per day, surpassing the production quota set by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for the first time in recent history.

Morka further highlighted improvements in the country’s trade balance, stating that for the first time in years, Nigeria is exporting more than it imports—an important shift in addressing the long-standing balance of payment deficit.

“These outcomes reflect a presidency that is active, engaged, and responsive to the nation’s most pressing economic and structural challenges,” he concluded.
