Tinubu convenes with African leaders over Niger coup

President Bola Tinubu is currently engaging in discussions with key stakeholders involved in the ECOWAS intervention aimed at defusing the political crisis in Niger Republic. President Tinubu holds the position of Chairman of the authority of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Among those participating in the ongoing meeting are Omar Touray, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, leader of the ECOWAS delegation to Niger Republic’s military junta, and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser to the President of Nigeria.

While the specific agenda of the meeting has not been officially disclosed to the media, a source has indicated that the discussions will likely focus on preventing the escalation of armed conflict in response to the political crisis unfolding in Niger Republic.
