Nigeria: President Bola Tinubu has condemned the deadly attacks on communities in Plateau State, promising that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and made to face the full weight of the law
Gunmen recently unleashed violence on Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, as well as Manguna and Dafo villages, leading to numerous deaths and widespread destruction.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President expresses his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Plateau State, and Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
President Tinubu urged residents in the affected communities to support security agencies with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the attackers, stating that peace and justice must prevail.
“These attacks on defenceless citizens are unacceptable. I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment when apprehended.”
He further emphasised that such acts of terror must not be allowed to persist, especially at a time when the nation is working tirelessly to restore peace and stability.
Reps condemn attacks in Plateau
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has strongly condemned the recent brutal attacks on Ruwi, Manguna, Daffo, Josho, and Hurti communities in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Dr Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House, in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Musa Krishi, described the attacks as “senseless and barbaric”.
”The Speaker expressed his outrage over the killings, injuries, and widespread destruction of property, calling the incident one too many. He lamented the suffering endured by the victims and their families and stressed the need for immediate action to prevent further violence”
He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Plateau State, praying for the souls of the deceased.
Furthermore, he called on relevant security agencies to swiftly apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators, stressing that impunity must not be allowed to continue.
He warned that unchecked violence would only deepen the crisis and exacerbate the suffering of innocent civilians.
