Abuja, Nigeria — In a stirring address on International Women’s Day, President Bola Tinubu extolled the remarkable resilience, brilliance, and indispensable contributions of Nigerian women.
In his message, President Tinubu emphasized that women are the very foundation of the nation’s progress. He noted that their influence spans every aspect of society, right from the nurturing of homes and farms to leadership in boardrooms and communities. “Nigerian women are the bedrock of our country’s advancement,” he remarked, underscoring the pivotal role they play in driving development at all levels.
However, the President also observed that despite their immense contributions, many Nigerian women still face obstacles that restrict their full potential which is a challenge that persists even thirty years after the Beijing Declaration. He pointed out that systemic barriers continue to impede progress, limiting access to opportunities that could otherwise elevate the status of women across the country.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to change, President Tinubu announced that under his Renewed Hope pledge, his government is resolutely working to break down these barriers. “We are dedicated to dismantling obstacles, expanding financial access, and ensuring fair representation in governance, agriculture, and all sectors of the economy,” he declared. This commitment aims to create an environment where every woman can thrive without limitations, thereby fostering a more inclusive and dynamic Nigeria.
The President’s remarks were not only a celebration of past and present achievements but also a call to action for a united effort in building a more equitable future. He urged policymakers and citizens alike to join in the mission to empower women, stating, “Your strength is the fuel that will propel Nigeria into a brighter future.” His words resonated deeply, serving as both a tribute to the indomitable spirit of Nigerian women and a promise of enhanced opportunities ahead.
By reiterating the importance of inclusive progress, President Tinubu highlighted that sustainable development can only be achieved when every segment of society is given a fair chance to contribute. His vision for Nigeria is clear saying a nation where the talents and energies of women are not just acknowledged, but actively nurtured and integrated into every facet of national life. Such a future, he believes, will lead to transformative growth and a more united country.
The address concluded with a renewed pledge from the administration to support initiatives that empower women and to foster an environment of equality and progress. As Nigeria marches forward, the integration of women’s voices in all arenas is not just beneficial, it is essential for the nation’s continued advancement.
