Tinubu Appoints Omidiran as Federal Character Commission Chair

 

Abuja, NigeriaPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). She takes over from Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was marked by controversy.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Alongside Omidiran’s appointment, President Tinubu named Mohammed T. Musa as the new Secretary of the Commission. Kayode Oladele, a former lawmaker from Ogun State who had been serving as the acting chairman, will continue as commissioner.

The President also approved the reappointment of several commissioners, including Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa), Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi), and Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun), each for a second term. Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawalla, the commissioner representing Lagos State, was also retained, along with other serving commissioners.
