Abuja, NigeriaPresident Bola Tinubu has appointed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reconciliation committee for Bauchi State.

The appointment, confirmed by a statement from the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, outlines the committee’s mandate to resolve persistent internal disputes within the Bauchi State APC chapter.

The presidential panel includes key political figures: Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State; former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara; Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel; Senior Special Assistant to the President (Political), Alhaji Ibrahim Masari; and Alhaji Usman Abubakar Gotomo. Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi, Chief of Staff to the Speaker, will serve as the committee secretary.

Speaker Tajudeen emphasized that the prolonged crisis in Bauchi APC warranted direct presidential intervention and praised the caliber of committee members for their integrity and ability to act impartially.

He urged the committee to complete its work swiftly, targeting a one-month timeframe ahead of the upcoming APC congresses. The committee’s findings will be submitted to President Tinubu for further directives.

This move underscores the federal government’s commitment to stabilizing party politics at the state level and ensuring a united front for the APC in Bauchi State going forward.
