Tension in Benue as police detain legislator

Tension has risen in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State following the reported arrest of Hon. Samuel Agada, a member representing Ogbadibo state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly.

According to sources, Agada was taken into custody by the police after an altercation that occurred when he tried to secure the release of a constituent. It is alleged that Agada was treated unjustly by the police, leading to protests from his aides who were angered by the situation.

The arrest of Hon. Agada has raised concerns in the community, with some suggesting that his troubles may be linked to the political dynamics in the state. Agada is known for maintaining a neutral stance in political matters and is respected for his dedication to serving his constituents regardless of their political affiliations.

Local youth leaders and residents have voiced their support for Agada, condemning his arrest as politically motivated. Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Benue Police Command regarding Agada’s arrest have so far been unsuccessful, as the Police Command Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, has not responded to inquiries.

The situation remains tense as residents await further updates on the situation involving the lawmaker.
